Leverett M.  Day
Leverett M. Day, 96, of Auburn died on Saturday, January 27, 2018 in the Life Care of Auburn after a brief illness.

Leverett was born in Presque Isle, Maine, the son of the late Hezekiah and Gladys (Nicholson) Day. In 1939 graduate of David Prouty High School in Spencer. A proud veteran, he served as a Radar Mechanic with the United States Army Air Corp during W.W. II.

He was a resident of Auburn since 1946.

Leverett is survived by his wife of 72 years, Rebecca C. (Payne) Day; children, Ellen C. Gaboury of Auburn and her fiancée Stewart Darden, Neal A. Day and his wife Phyllis of Brookfield, MA, Kevin R. Day and his wife Laurel of Easthampton, Alan M. Day and his wife Carol of Chattanooga, TN, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Leverett was pre-deceased by his three sisters, two brothers and one grandchild.

After working for forty two years for the Olson Manufacturing Company in Holden as a machinist, foreman, estimator, and sales associate, he retired in 1983. Leverett also taught operation and cam design of the Brown and Sharp Screw Machines at the Worcester Boys Trade School for six years and was also known as a handyman to many of his friends in need. In his spare time, he was active in candlepin bowling leagues and enjoyed wood working.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Auburn Historical Society, 41 South Street, Auburn, MA 01501.
