Condolences

Condolence From: Suzy Bell
Condolence: Our Dad, Father in law, Grampa...We miss your hugs, your songs, your standing outdoors to wave goodbye as we turned our car around and drove up the street. You were a hugger dad. It was a given. And even when your body was broken and you looked like an old man to strangers, you were still our same dad to us......the leader of the band. The one who had the best stories, the life of the party, even when the party was only at our dinner table. You had your moments, like when you thanked Andy for purposing marriage to me. But those things just made party more fun. I will miss you daddy. You filled our hearts.

Condolence From: Carol Maloney Nelson and Matthew Maloney
Condolence: Below is a copy of the e-mails between my son Matthew and I. Thought it was worth sharing:
Hi Matt
Dave thought you would like to see this obituary of his Dad. By the way, you are listed as one of the ten grandchildren - how nice is that!?!
We love you,
M&D

Hi M&D,
That’s a very nice write-up and I am touched be included as one of the grandchildren. He certainly always treated me family. I love you and I will see you in the morning.
Matt

Dad and Mom Nelson have certainly always made Matt and I feel welcome. Matt summed it up perfectly "he treated me family". We love you very much and have been honored to be your family for the past 18 years. We will miss you Dad/Grampa! Love, Carol and Matt

Condolence: I know Dad Nelson is reading this from from his chair in Heaven. I will miss his stories, the way he used to burst into songs, the way he read signs on buildings and storefronts when we drove by, and a story would follow some of them...listening to jazz with him and Mom Nelson...listening to him announce what he was going to do for the day..his hats..hearing him sing in the church choir on Christmas Eve..the way he used to sound when I called; like he was so happy I had called..and when Skylar had to go through so much during one of the worst times of our lives, he made me believe everything would be alright. And it was. I will miss hearing him play his trumpet. I remember hearing him sing, "It;s A Wonderful World" once. It's not so wonderful without you, Dad.
Thank you for making me feel like I was one of your daughters.

Condolence: We lost a dear friend today. Bob Nelson, our Saturday morning music critic at University Commons Nursing Home has joined "the chorus in the clouds". Joined it? If I know Bob, he is DIRECTING that chorus and he isn't accepting any sour notes either! I know that because Bob was always at the Saturday morning singalongs at the Pub in the lobby of University Commons---EVERY SATURDAY MORNING AT 10:00 A.M.---NEVER MISSED! If "Polish Eddie" brought in a song off his computer that those singing volunteers didn't know, we could ALWAYS count on Bob knowing the tune. After awhile I also got to "read" Bob's evaluation of our singing: If we sang a song well, Bob would be silent, but if we sang the least bit flat, I would look over at him and sure enough his head would be shaking back and forth from left to right!
Yes, Bob knew his music and it was also fun to hear him reminisce about the Town Club and the area around Lake Quinsigamond. We will miss Bob at the Thursday Mass, at the Friday Conversation Time, the Saturday Singalong, and watching him interact with his wonderfully loyal family. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL ADDITION TO THE CHORUS IN THE CLOUDS! G0D BLESS YOU, BOB------------------Leo Coleman

Condolence: To the Nelson family,

While it goes back many, many years, I have fond memories of Bob and my Dad Mike George jamming away when I was a kid. May Bob's memory be eternal.
