Obituary for Juliette A Bitar

Juliette A Bitar
Juliette A. (Haddad) Bitar, of Auburn died peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2019 at the age of 91 surrounded by her loving family. She is predeceased by her husband of 33 years, John S. Bitar who died in 1994.

Juliette is survived by her children Stephen J. Bitar of Auburn, Ruth J. Mandella and her husband Paul of Oxford, James J. Bitar of Auburn; grandchildren Elizabeth Bitar, Nicholas and Danielle Mandella, Jennawe Hughes, Brian Mantie; great-granddaughter Katherine Hughes, sisters Samia Oweis, Nawal Hazkial, and Afaf Haddad, as well as many nieces and nephews in the United States, Lebanon, Canada and Australia. She was predeceased by her brothers Elias and Azis Haddad.

Born, raised and educated in Ain Anoub, Lebanon, Juliette was the daughter of Adib E. Haddad and Wajiha (Akel) Haddad. At the age of 24 she began working as a secretary for the Southern Baptist Mission Hospital in Ajloun, Jordan where she learned bookkeeping, typing, and shorthand, in addition to being fluent in Arabic, English and French – a skill set she was very proud of. She worked there for nine years until emigrating to the United States in 1960.

Shortly after arriving to Massachusetts she settled in Auburn, married John and started a family. Her primary focus was homemaking. She was an excellent cook and seamstress, often sharing meals with neighbors and welcoming them to her home for coffee.

When not tending to the needs of her family, she would enjoy listening to Gospel music, picking vegetables from her garden, sewing and crocheting, going to church and reading her Bible. She was always grateful to her friends John and Inez Zannotti and Effie Sodagar who would give her a ride to church after her husband John passed away.

Juliette had a strong faith in Jesus and would often share her story of how He had changed her life. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Worcester for many years. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, hope, and love to her children and grandchildren. She was the matriarch of her family, a pillar of strength and always sensitive to the needs of those around her. She especially adored her grandchildren and would proudly share stories of every one of their accomplishments.

A special thanks to the staff of Webster Manor for her care over the past two years and to all her friends who would frequently visit her.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with her family between the hours of 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. All are invited to attend her Memorial Service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the First Assembly of God Church, 30 Tyler Prentice Road, Worcester. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory can be made to Webster Manor, 745 School St., Webster, MA 01570
