Obituary for Anne M "Ann" Brooks (Laconte)

Anne M "Ann" Brooks (Laconte)
Mrs. Anne M. “Ann” (Laconte) Brooks of Auburn died peacefully June 15, 2019 at the Life Care Center of Auburn surrounded by her loved ones. She had recently celebrated her 99th birthday.

Her beloved husband, Arnold “Bud” Brooks, died in 1974. She leaves her sons Ronald E. Brooks and his wife Sharon of Auburn, and Dr. Robert W. Brooks and his wife Cindy of Holden. Ann also leaves her two cherished grandsons, Anthony Brooks and his wife Heather of Auburn and Kerry Brooks of Dudley. She leaves five great grandchildren: Dalton, Shaleigh, Kendra, Benjamin and Morgan and many nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Worcester, Ann was one of thirteen children born to Clarinda and Nicola Laconte. Ann worked tremendously hard her entire life and was known by many having worked at Hahnemann and Fairlawn Hospital cafeterias, and the lunch counter at Grants in Auburn where she was a supervisor.

Ann was an active community member and friend to many. She was a fierce advocate for her fellow seniors. As a 20-year volunteer at the Auburn Senior Center, a volunteer at the Life Care Center of Auburn, an RSVP Ambassador, and Unsung Heroine of the Commonwealth, Ann earnestly worked on behalf of seniors and rightfully earned every recognition she was given. Ann was a political activist having worked on elections at the local, county, state and federal levels. She always remained current on the issues and yes, was that “Ann from Auburn”? Ann was a bundle of energy, had a sharp wit, and was opinionated, meticulous, generous and full of heart. Her passion was evident in everything she did and her presence will be sorely missed by many.

To honor Ann’s life’s, memorial donations may be made to: Worcester Community Action Council, 484 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01608 or online at http://www.wcac.net/donate/
