Obituary for Patrick J "Paddy" Flynn

Patrick J. “Paddy” Flynn, 78, of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday November 7, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Ballyfarnon, Co. Roscommon, Ireland, to James and Delia (Christie) Flynn, Patrick was raised and educated in Ireland before immigrating to the United States in 1963.

Patrick is survived by his wife of 49 years, Eileen A. (Murphy) Flynn; their children, James P. Flynn and his wife Theresa of Shrewsbury, Joan M. Flynn of Leicester; and their three granddaughters, Riley, Reagan, and Kailey Flynn of Shrewsbury. He is also survived by his brother, Martin Flynn of Co. Roscommon, Ireland, sister, Ann (Flynn) Ostrowski, of Auburn, MA and many nieces and nephews. Patrick was predeceased by his sister, Josephine Sheridan, of County Sligo, Ireland.

Paddy dedicated nearly 40 years of his career to the Norton Company in Worcester, where he worked as a machine operator.

Patrick was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was an avid gardener, and enjoyed watching New England sports and Gaelic football games. His greatest pleasure was spending time with his beloved granddaughters. Born on St. Patrick’s Day, he was so proud of his Irish heritage and loved sharing it with others.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Patrick’s family between 4:00 and 7:00 PM on Wednesday November 13, 2019 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn, MA. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street North, Auburn, MA, followed by burial in Hillside Cemetery in Auburn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Church, 194 Oxford Street North, Auburn, MA
