Obituary for Camellia M. "Cammie" Symonowicz

Camellia M. “Cammie” Symonowicz, 57, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Saturday September 5, 2020 at Lanessa Extended Care, Webster.

Born in Worcester, raised and educated in Auburn, Cammie was one of three children born to the late Richard M. Symonowicz, Sr. and Delia M. (Monroe) Symonowicz. She graduated with the Class of 1981, Auburn High School, prior to beginning her extensive college career. Cammie attended Norwich University/Vermont College, in the Nursing Program, between 1981 and 1984. She then attended Worcester State College, receiving a Bachelor of Biology in 1990. While she was a student at WSC, Cammie was in the Tri-Beta Honor Society. Lastly, in June of 2007, Cammie received her Master’s in Business Administration from Kennedy Western University, where she wrote her thesis on “Managing, Motivating, and Recognizing a Multigenerational Workforce.”

Cammie enjoyed many intellectually stimulating and fulfilling work experiences, including: working as a Research Technician, then Animal Facility Manager for Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center in Waltham; working as Operations Manager II in Veterinary Sciences Department for Bristol Myers Squibb for almost twenty years. Her involvement with her field extended past work, holding offices, involvement and awards within the LAMA and AALAS community.

Cammie was an enthusiastic New England sports fan - she loved rooting for her Patriots and Red Sox. She coached field hockey for Oxford High School, and enjoyed playing golf.

She leaves behind her sister, Julie A. Hanratty, of Auburn; her brother, Richard M. Symonowicz, Jr. and his wife Carol, of Oxford; her nephew, Ryan D. Hanratty, of Auburn; her niece, Alicia N. Belanger and her husband Peter, of Charlton; and great niece and nephew, Samantha and Connor Belanger.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Cammie’s family between 10 AM and 12 PM on Saturday September 19, 2020 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn, MA – masks will be required upon entering the funeral home and social distancing measures will be taken. Service and burial will be held privately for her family.
