Obituary for Martin M. "Marty" Ryan III
Martin M. Ryan III, 73, of Shrewsbury, passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 9, 2021.
Born in Salem, MA on May 20, 1947, raised in Marblehead, MA, he was the son of the late Martin M. Ryan, Jr., and Margaret Ryan.
Marty retired from a career as a Mechanical Engineer. He graduated from Marblehead High School, then went on to receive an Associate degree from Wentworth Institute, and graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Marty loved spending time golfing, gardening, and cooking with a passion for growing and cooking hot peppers. Once retired, Marty volunteered his time to help elderly residents with home maintenance repairs. He was very much devoted to his family and loved country music.
Marty is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joan C. Ryan; a daughter, Catherine Walker, wife of David of Shrewsbury, and their children Ryan and Erin; a daughter Colleen Ryan, partner of John Embry of Los Angeles, CA; and three sisters, Margaret Hanson, wife of Robert; Martha Ryan, wife of Paul Smerczynski; and Michele Lord (deceased), wife of Bill. Marty also leaves behind his beloved family-in-law, brother-in law Jack Fadden; brother-in-law Peter Fadden and his wife Deborah and their children Benjamin and Rebecca; and sister-in-law Maureen Tilton and her husband Mark, and Maureen’s daughter Melissa Cavanaugh.
